Developmentally appropriate child-centered activities focus on skills and practices that enable lifelong learning and independent problem-solving. We implement a wide variety of educational programs, learning experiences, instructional approaches, and academic-support strategies that are intended to address the needs, interests, aspirations, or cultural backgrounds of every student.
Students in this classroom are 2 1/2 – 3 years old. Our small classroom setting is devoted to nurturing the whole child – intellectually, socially, emotionally, and beyond. Our students enjoy various sensory and social development activities in and out of the classroom. However, the main focus in this classroom is getting our students ready to move into our Preschool 2 program. For this program, students must be able to eat independently, drink from an open cup, and follow simple directions. Students should be fully potty trained.
Children two and a half to three years old are becoming more social, learning to self-regulate, and retaining more and more information. This is an age of tremendous vocabulary growth. Children are becoming more independent and seeing growth in their attention to tasks. CJEC is committed to growing the whole child and focuses on language, cognitive, gross, and fine motor skills, self-help, and social-emotional skills.
